Health
Our responsibilities
- Scratches and nicks. Dogs playing together occasionally get scratches and nicks -- it’s like kids playing in a playground. If this happens and your dog isn’t at any health risk, we’ll clean the area if needed and email you with photos so you are in the loop.
- Health concerns. If we notice anything out of the ordinary with your dog’s health, we will let you know immediately -- and send you photos if relevant -- so you know what’s going on as soon as possible and can decide whether to take him or her to the vet. We may isolate your dog in their owen space for his or her protection.
- Local authorized contact. If your dog boards with us for more than 3 nights, we require to have on file the name and phone number of a local contact who can pick up your dog and/or make decision on your behalf in case of emergency.
- Urgent care. If we believe your dog needs urgent medical care, we’ll always try to get in touch with you first. If we can’t get a hold of you, we will take the action that we think is best for your dog’s well-being, including taking him or her to a vet in an emergency.
Your responsibilities
- In good health. Your dog must be in good health. Immediately inform us of any change to your dog’s health or medical condition. Do not bring your dog to daycare or boarding if you think your dog is sick.
- Vaccinations. For the health of your dog and all the dogs in our pack, you must keep your dog’s vaccinations up to date. The three vaccines we require, per the New York Department of Health, are Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. While we will remind you when we can as a courtesy, it’s your responsibility to keep on top of this.
- Vaccination records. Make sure we have your dog’s up-to-date vaccination records. The best way is to upload your dog's records directly to the member website. If you run into any issues, you can email the records to us and we'll upload them for you.
- Spay/neuter. All dogs over the age of 9 months must be spayed or neutered.
- Medical proxy. Empower us to make any and all medical decisions for your dog (including incurring vet fees on your behalf) if needed in case of emergency or inability to reach you.
- Medicine. If your dog needs oral pills or topical medicine with his or her meals, let us know. Medications should be given to us in original package from the vet with detailed instructions. We’re not set up to administer shots at any time.
